If You're Happy & You Know It

Sorry the quality of the video is a little grainy. It's from my little Ipod.
This is Calvin clapping because he's so excited. Just recently he's been
clapping to show how excited he is about something or to also show off
for the ladies. :)

A Work In Progress.

I started a drawing on Saturday night and I love how it's turning out so far. I intend on painting a big version of it sometime. But what I'm most frustrated about is that in the middle of me working on the drawing, my pen dried and the felt tip was so worn down that it almost didn't exist anymore. So I now have to wait to finish the drawing until I have me a new pen. UGH.

Inspired by Sylvia Ji and Jose Guadalupe Posada

I cannot wait to work on the large version! Thoughts???

Big Bear and Baby Cal.

David and I first realized Calvin's love for stuffed animals when he was only a few months old. But we never thought it was anything more than "ooooh colorful!" or something he'd just eventually put in his mouth and drool all over.
I actually bought Big Bear at Albertsons and thought, "He'll never like this.. he probably won't care for it in another week or so" and it was my sister Andrea who insisted that I buy it. She noticed how much he loved it right away and that he didn't want to let him go. And so for Christmas last year, Calvin got Big Bear and it was love at first sight. I've actually just recently found HOLES in Big Bear because of how much rough housing he's been through with Calvin.
David and I have actually started sticking Big Bear in Calvin's crib so in the morning he wakes up and sees him there. We've actually found him "talking" to Big Bear in the morning when we go into his room to say good morning!
It's so cute and funny. It's like Big Bear is alive to him and he talks to him and hugs him and kisses him. He'll tackle him and lay on him. I LOVE watching him play with Big Bear. So after all this time, I finally took pictures of him with Big Bear. Sorry if the pictures are blurry, Calvin was moving pretty fast when I was trying to capture him with Big Bear.

I adore my little (SHIRTLESS) baby Calvin.

P.S.

I added a music playlist.. these are my songs of the moment.

And also...
I'm craving bread pudding and cream puffs like you wouldn't believe!!!

Stupid Computer.

I can't seem to get pictures from the card onto the computer! Ah, I am so frustrated sometimes with how little I know about computers.

So for today, Old pictures will do.

My visiting teachers came over today to visit me and I was enjoying myself having casual conversation with the two of them. And then the question that always gets asked, "How old is Calvin now?" and I replied 10 months. And then it hit me.
I have a 10 month old baby.
TEN MONTHS... like, two months away from being a 12 month old baby!
Where has time gone? Didn't I just bring him home from the hospital like, yesterday?
It certainly feels that way!

I am in awe of how much my Calvin has grown! I mean, he hasn't even met his Indiana family yet (With exception of Grandpa Jim and Grandma JoAnn of course). And this summer when we go to Indiana to visit, will he be walking? What other new tricks will he be learning? I just want to grab him by his shoulders and be like "WHOA whoa whoa, hold on there mister. You are GROUNDED from growing up any more."

He was so little! Not even capable of holding his own little head up!
And now I can't keep him in one spot!
Always moving, always moving, my Calvin.

I could eat him up, I love him so.

He went from this.....

To this...

to THIS!

The Millers need a break.

We've all been going at a million miles and hour it seems in the last week. We had so many things to do. Including working to shoot and arrange flowers for a wedding (David was kind enough to help me strip some roses and wire some gerbs after my friend Courtney had gone home). I taught my very first Zumba class on Thursday. Friday and Saturday were dedicated almost solely to wedding flowers and wedding photography. And Sunday David and I both had to speak in Sacrament Meeting at church! OY! Can't somebody catch a break? Thankfully, Calvin was able to be with my parents this week while we've had our busiest days. He just loves his Tias Andi, Ali and Ami, his Tio Erik, and his Abuelos. :)

Calvin's been standing up, too! This last week Cal's been practicing letting go of things and standing all by himself! He knows he's cool when he does it too because he'll put his hands above his head and smile so big like "Aw yeah! I am the MAN!" Unfortunately, He's too quick for me to run for my camera and catch the magic. Soon enough, soon enough.

But for now, some crappy pictures from Photobooth.

Always A Crowd Pleaser..

I get so "Mom-ish" when I get to playing with my little Calvin. There is something so wonderful about his little personality. David and I always talk about what a blessing he is in our lives and how much light and joy he brings.

I'm afraid Calvin is going to feel a little neglected this weekend. David and I have loads of things we have to do this weekend that require all of our attention. Unfortunately, that means we have to leave Calvin with someone else. Although I know he's in wonderful care, I miss Calvin so much when we leave him with my parents. It must be a parent thing. Like I feel like I have to squeeze him so tight like it's the last time I'll ever see him. Ah. I love that little guy.

Anyway, Calvin's been learning new ways to "cute" his way into getting things he wants. I can see now how he might use his little tricks to manipulate me in the future. I've got to keep a close eye on my little boy.

He's my everything.

Just Two Hang-out Dudes

Corny Corny Corny.

I love watching David play with Baby Cal. I can only imagine the days to come that someway or another will involve wrestling, getting dirty, running fast and scraping knees and elbows. It isn't rare to find David and Calvin playing a new game. Most likely something involving Calvin's favorite toy, Big Bear or maybe going into Calvin's new favorite hiding spot, under the crib (anytime I've lost something and can't find it, I've learned to look under the crib first). That's big bear off to the right by David's legs.

I love my boys.

And it's obvious to me how much they love each other. ♥♥♥

Imitation

It won't be long until Calvin will be begging me for his own cell phone...

This one's my favorite. I LOVE THE CHEEKS!!!

The Center of Attention

Every once and a while, if we really listen, Calvin will say "Hi Dad" or "Hi Mom". Mind you, it sounds a little more like "H-Ma!" or "H-Da!"But I love hearing it all the same. :)  Ironically, Calvin didn't come with his own Mom and Dad to church for Mothers Day. He decided that he would much rather be with his Grandma and Grandpa Gomez. And I hear that he was a hit! Flirting with the girls and doing all of his "tricks". Waving, clapping, "talking", and clicking his tongue.

We have also learned that cookies are Calvin's preferred treat. Most especially chocolate oreos. This is him at his messiest. I hold him out at arm's length all the way to the bath tub when he's this sticky mess.

I have a feeling that I'll be spending a lot of time out at the pool this summer with Calvin. He just LOVES being in the water. He knows the sound of water running and makes a mad dash toward it! Like it's Christmas all over again when it's his turn for a bath.

I can't believe how fast he's growing!

Lookie What I Made!

Thanks for all of the suggestions from the all those times I rant about being a Modest Mormon. I did get a suggestion from Anna (who is NOT Mormon, by the way) to try some 50's style knee length skirts. I got me some fabric and am in the process of making me a few skirts. I want them to be able to be worn high on the waist or down on the hips. I also wanted to go with a fun pattern, but one that wasn't so crazy- just in case I wanted to mix it with some other cool pattern. I also made it a little more A Line. Here it is. :)

(Sorry. I know it's repetitive since I posted the same thing on my other blog..)

Wonderful Wednesday

I wanted to go see the Anne Frank Exhibit in the Salt Lake City Library yesterday and invited my dear friend Jessica who was visiting from Florida! The exhibit was really cool- full of a bunch of fun facts. And I LOVE a good bit of history. I loved the library- I'd never been there before, but so much of it was glass, even the elevators were glass on 3 sides!

↓ A little piece of the exhibit on Anne Frank ↓

Though the exhibit was awesome and super educational- I think Calvin felt a little bored. He would not stop wiggling! I think he felt so restless from being in a car seat and then plopped right into the stroller to see an exhibit he really didn't care too much about. Here he is looking up at me from the stroller. It was as if he was asking me PLEASE, can we leave now?!?
And it looks incredibly uncomfortable the way he was sitting.

Anyway, after that, Jessica (who I lovingly refer to as "Fatty J") and I decided to visit one of my very favorite import stores in Salt Lake, Dancing Cranes. Turns out they're under new ownership. Which was only sad because most of the collection of Buddhas was gone (NOOO)! But there were still some things that I wished I had money to spend on.
Such as:
↓ One of my favorites, a statue of The Dancing Shiva ↓

↓ And this really cool hollow book thing! ↓

All in all, a very fun day shared with my Fatty J and my Fatty Calvin. :)
He was so glad to get home and crawl around and destroy things- and as always, enjoy a few treats.

Bad Blogger.

I tend to go through phases where I can crank out a few entries a week! Maybe even a few a DAY. Sorry I've been neglecting you. But I do have pictures to share. :)

It's been kind of crummy weather these last few days. Here we are, pulling out all of our summer attire and the next thing you know- it's raining, snowing, and being really overcast. The downside is Calvin is STILL trying to get over his cold. Although I think now he's reaching the last stretch of this sickness. His little nose is still running and every once and a while now I'll hear him cough. All in all, I'd say he's doing much better than he was a week ago. Thanks everyone for asking! I am also starting to think that he just gets sick on the days when I have to do something important.

Anyway- I will be going to see the Anne Frank Exhibit in the Salt Lake City Library this Wednesday! I'll be sure to take lots of pictures!

This is how Calvin's been dressing during this icky weather...

Even Dozer (my family's beagle) is dressing for the weather. Here, he's wearing his blue rain coat. Don't worry, it even has a hood for those particularly rainy days.
