ADVENTURES IN PLANKING:

We all went to dinner before our dear friend Hannah left for Wales.

We of course ate until our little bellies could hold no more (Thank you, Bombay House)

And randomly decided that we must go planking. 

Thank goodness Erika had her camera on her so we could document our adventures.

The Puddle Jumper

For about a week and a half (maybe two weeks?)  here in good ol' Utah, every day was grey and rainy. It was pretty awesome, everything was green, I could get away with still wearing my big scarves in May. The best part was definitely Calvin's discovery of what happens when you step in a puddle. On one occasion, his whole bottom half was soaked through. This video only shows the smaller puddle.

The bad side: Calvin's clothes were constantly having to be re-washed because of all the muddy water. but it was totally worth it to watch him stomp around in the puddles.

The Chase

After a week of nothing but gloomy rainy weather,  the sun finally decided to make an appearance. Sunday started off a little gray, but as the day went on, I just couldn't stay inside anymore! People were barbecuing outside, kids playing. So Calvin ran outside for a while. 

David was determined to get a good shot of Calvin and Cal just did everything he could to make ruin every shot. He would run away or turn his face right as David pushed the button. 

As you can see, yesterday afternoon, the camera was pretty much just an extension of David's face.

The Best Surprise!

Sunday afternoon, after our stake conference, Cal and David and I went up to my parents' house for dinner as we always do. It was kind of a lazy Sunday, I headed over a little early since I really didn't have much to do after stake conference.
Enter the house, put Cal down on the floor (he takes off running, of course) and I see my whole family in the front room.

.... Strange..

And then out of nowhere, my Dad appears! He decided to drop in on us unexpectedly. We haven't seen him since December when he visited from Peru for Christmas. Actually, I was so confused! I talked to him just the day before on skype and he told me that he didn't know for sure when he was going to come visit. He said something like, "I may just come and surprise you all."
And of course, I was totally oblivious when he said that and didn't think anything of it.
And here he was! Fresh off the plane from Peru!
Turned out to be a much more interesting Sunday afternoon than I'd originally thought I'd have.

I am not sure what is happening in the above picture. 

I like to think that this is my little sister's best surprised face. Ha! 

Kisses with Calvin

This is yet another example of my Dad's very animated story telling skills.

And last but not least, we filmed my sister Andrea seeing my dad as he entered the room.

Her reaction was GOLDEN. 

He Just Makes Me Laugh.

Calvin's been "saying" prayers for a few months now. But all of a sudden, we go to pray for a meal and he starts talking in this little high squeaky voice.. And all I could do was laugh and think to myself, Does he think we pray that way?

Does my voice get higher when I pray?

Turns out, hanging out in Calvin's tent is one of Cal's and David's favorite things to do together.
Lots of getting in and out, lots of peeking through the holes and tipping the tent over!

David is a little bit big for the tent, but that doesn't stop him from squeezing in there!

On A Regular Basis

Calvin is CONSTANTLY climbing things. David and I have recently had to secure our bookshelf to the wall because of Climbing Calvin. I was doing some laundry at my parents' house one day and realized that I couldn't hear Calvin. So I went on a search and you know where I found him? At the TOP of the long stairway. And I freaked! How could I NOT notice? Anyway, I had to get him back to the bottom and get it on film, this time he had someone to spot him in case he slipped. It's about time I get this video on the blog. :) Enjoy.




P.S. I should thank the people who read this blog. I notice a lot of people's interest in our family. And I'm really glad
that I'm not just writing to a big black hole.

At Play

David discovered that Calvin likes to play underneath a big blanket we have. We'll cover and uncover him and laughs from the rush of air that happens when we uncover him. David just happened to leave the blanket on his head and we found out that Calvin REALLY likes to try crawling around with the blanket over his head. He obviously doesn't get very far before he trips all over himself and laughs his little hiney off. At the end he we uncover him and he gets a little disoriented and tips over.

In other news, his Grandma and Grandpa Gomez succeeded in finding a walker! Something I assumed was gone from existence. I thought that because of too many incidences of falling down the stairs, they'd stopped being manufactured. Anywho, they found one. And we have been watching to see when he finally starts to take steps forward in his walker..
His Tia Andi held out a cookie in front of him and VOILA! He is so easily enticed by food. Immediately, he starts almost running towards Andi and he gets his cookie. I'll have to get it on film for you. I always have these moments of "Look at my baby go. He is the cutest, smartest, most amazing baby in the whole world!" And then I remember that's probably just me being a silly mom.

I know you've seen the naked bum pictures before. David shot this video of Cal watching the bath tub fill up and he gets SO excited! And I personally think it is the cutest thing ever.


And David also managed to sneak a video of Cal hanging out in his crib in the morning. I love when he finally catches David filming him. Heh heh. Cute behbeh.

David's Quotes of the Day

It's not hard for people to make me laugh. That goes double for David. His sarcasm and silliness always crack me up. And then sometimes, out of nowhere, we'll be having a conversation having to do with dinner, or laundry, or money or any of those other grown up things and he'll say something that makes me double up in laughter & I can't stop. The best thing is he doesn't realize what it is that he said that was so funny. I'll try and explain it through my laughter.

Well, last night was one of these nights.

We celebrated David's birthday last night with some good ol' fashioned chocolate cake and David's choice of ice cream (Mint Chocolate Chip) and I went in for the first scoop of ice cream and it popped right out of the box! It was a little softer than I'd expected and the little glob of ice cream fell to the floor by the counter. I picked it up and examined it for any dust or hairs or anything that would give me reason to throw it away (I know.. that's pretty gross, but I hate throwing stuff away). Our conversation then went a little something like this...

D: Throw it away! It was on the ground!

A: Oh, it's fine, you big baby.

D: No, it touched garbage, throw it away. I saw it bounce off the garbage.

A: It's FINE....

D: THOW IT AWAY. Do you want BOOGER FARTS all over it?!?

A: (Silence)......... AAAAAHAHAHAH!


I know it's a little stupid. But it was so out of nowhere that I couldn't NOT laugh. *Sigh* Thank goodness for moments like that in my life. I'm glad I have David.
