On A Regular Basis

Calvin is CONSTANTLY climbing things. David and I have recently had to secure our bookshelf to the wall because of Climbing Calvin. I was doing some laundry at my parents' house one day and realized that I couldn't hear Calvin. So I went on a search and you know where I found him? At the TOP of the long stairway. And I freaked! How could I NOT notice? Anyway, I had to get him back to the bottom and get it on film, this time he had someone to spot him in case he slipped. It's about time I get this video on the blog. :) Enjoy.

P.S. I should thank the people who read this blog. I notice a lot of people's interest in our family. And I'm really glad
that I'm not just writing to a big black hole.

Wishing for Springtime

(I'm getting so frustrated with my typing.. I've got a band-aid on my index finger and it's making it harder to do things..)

Ladies and Germs, I present to you one of my very very favorite Calvin videos. This was taken a few weeks ago at a park on a sunny day after church. We wanted to take Calvin to see the duckies and swing on the swing. So David took the liberty of packing us a light lunch and a blanket and we had ourselves a picnic! Whilst we ate our lunch, we loved seeing Calvin crawling to the ends of the blanket and touching the grass. He'd immediately lift the hand that touched it and wriggle his fingers. His eyebrows rose and mouth turned into something of a grimace. Almost like he was saying "What the..." He seemed so put off by the texture of the grass that he refused to go off the blanket. Me and David seized the opportunity to get it all on film!

Bath Time, Baby!

David's at work until 8 tonight. Ah- I've just got to hold on about another hour or so til' he gets home. Good grief, today has felt like the longest day of my life (well.. one of them). Calvin's had a cough and runny nose develop. I hate it when he's sick. I feel so bad for him- He doesn't know how to blow those runny boogers into a tissue so he can breathe. (*Sad Face*) At night really late, I can hear him coughing. Aw it makes me so sad. I hope it ends soon. And hopefully the weather stops being so awful and make up it's mind so this doesn't keep happening.

Anyway, I've been pulling out all the stops to try and help poor Calvin get better. And he was so funny today in his warm bath. He's such a ham.

↑ Watching the bath tub fill up. ↑

and don't worry. He loves having his picture taken. When he eats, he thinks it's so funny to hang on to the spoon with his teeth. I'm surprised at how strong he is when I try to pull the spoon out of his mouth!

↑ He knows he's being a funny boy. ↑
I think I may have a future prankster on my hands...

Kangaroo Zoo

On a trip to the Kangaroo Zoo- I started to realize how NOT excited I am to pay for ridiculous things my family will want to do in the future. Say what you want...

But Calvin.. How could I possibly refuse this?

Also, this has been very long overdue. An introduction to Calvin's alter ego, George Diaperton. David simply places an open diaper on calvin's head and it's supposed to look like a powdered white wig. And Ta Da! Calvin becomes George Diaperton! It's so dumb but I can't help laughing at Calvin every time David puts the "wig" on Calvin's head. Calvin gives us this look like, Something is up here... is there something on my head?

Travieso

I have the most mischievous little boy. Some would say that he's much too little to understand what he's doing. But I know he understands my tone when he knows he shouldn't be doing something. He looks back at me like, trying to decide whether to stop doing or to keep going. That little trouble maker. He's only 8 months old right now! Imagine the kind of messes he'll make in a few years!

Taking out the DVDs.. This happens regularly. And the look he gives me when I say his name in the TONE...

But how could I stay mad at this face? How, I ask you?

Cal likes to try and climb his Cousin Noah. As you can see here, poor Noah is helpless to defend himself against Calvin. It's like Calvin's got tentacles that he can't escape from!!

Calvin being a ham for the camera.. and Noah seems so relieved that Cal's finally left him alone.

Today is extremely boring.

It just altogether seems like a blah day. I look outside and it's overcast and windy and gray. Which, in comparison to how yesterday's weather was, is kind of depressing. I did manage to finally get out of the house yesterday for a stroll with Cal. I've been dying to take him to the park. I love Nelson's Grove. It's one of my very favorite parks, not for any particular reason, just feels a little more like a real park to me. Not like one that's attached to an elementary school or something. Anyway, Calvin had his first ride on a swing set! I took so many pictures only to realize that David had taken the memory card out of the camera! DAAAANG IT. Which means of course that I don't have any of the cute pictures for the blog today. Drats. Well, I did take some on my phone (sorry for the crappy quality..) I'll try to retrieve some more pictures from my friend Cynthia who was there with me.

We also celebrated David's birthday a while ago and we had a nice dinner and a birthday cake. He got some cash for his birthday from my parents and what do you think he did first? He took all of the dollar bills out of the booklet and told me to take pictures of him tossing his money around like a cool rich maniac. Ha! I have to laugh at these pictures because they're so odd. I love that guy.

See how creepy he looks?

Calvin also managed to get himself stuck under the bed a few times. He kept babbling like "How in the world did I get myself down here anyway?" Hysterical.

Just look at those legs. He's got a Christmas ham in each leg.

Calvin the Beanstalk

Calvin is now officially 8 months old. And not only that, he's now got SEVEN teeth. What in the world? Are 8 month old babies supposed to have so many chompers? I wish I could be more candid with my pictures. Unfortunately, Calvin is all too good at finding me & my camera. He's figuring out how to get up and down without having to bonk his head in the process. I wish I could just explain things to him.. Like, "Just bend your knees and bring your butt to the floor" or "If you hold it like this, you can pick it up a lot easier" but alas, it's not that easy with a baby. I think seeing him work out these new tricks makes me think a little more about the mechanics of how I do things. It's really opened my eyes!

He is my life and I love my Cal so much. It's so hard to imagine my life without him. Every time I go say good morning to him in his crib, and he looks so happy to see me. Like, I am seriously the best person he could see right then. I try to savor each of these moments like it'll never happen again. He is the best thing that could have happened to me.

Post script: I would just like to mention that I love his blue eyes too. I have no clue where he got them. David & I both have pretty dark colored eyes and Cal somehow got these amazing hazel-y blue ones.
