Been Slackin'

I finally have a moment to post! This week my family is all in Vernal area for Youth Conference and that leaves my littlest sister with no where to stay except here in my humble abode. It's a little odd having someone other than Calvin and myself here but I welcome it totally. In fact, it's kind of nice. We are also taking care of the family dog while everyone's out of town and I can tell he's going nuts just being inside all day. Obviously I can't just let him out or else he'd be smashed in the traffic that unfortunately surrounds us.

Here are some new videos of Calvin (some of you may have already seen these.. sorry.)
The first is of Calvin eating a banana all by himself. Before this, I would have fed him smaller pieces of banana with a spoon so he wouldn't choke. But just before I started feeding him this particular time, Calvin snatched the banana out of my hand and decided he wanted to be in control.

The second video is of Calvin "talking on the phone". We only realized he started doing this shortly after David would say "Hello" after answering his phone and Calvin would immediately put his hand up to his ear. And most recently, he's not only been putting his hand up to his ear, but babbling like he's having a conversation with someone. It is so hilarious! In this vid, he's saying something like "A-doh" which, as we understand it, means Hello
(David has been teaching him something he calls "Home Alone". Where Calvin puts both hands on his cheeks like Macaulay Culkin when he puts Aftershave on his face in the movie. I don't love to go along with David when he teaches this one... I feel a little stupid doing it.)

A Swimming Calvin!

Last month the pool was going under much work (repainting, cleaning, and minor repairs) in order for them to finally open it this month! And David and I usually go hit the hot tub once and a great while. But we decided to brave the new cold pool water with Calvin. We even got him a sit-in floaty! He looks so cute in his little swim shorts and tank (*gushing* EEP, he's SO CUTE). And after covering pretty much his whole body in sunscreen and attempting to put a hat on him, we took our first steps into the pool. We were surprised to find that the water was actually not as cold as we expected and we think Calvin really liked it (after the initial shock of having half his body dunked into cold water). And of course, he was flirting with all the girls at the pool; showin' them all the tricks.

(I'm just gonna come out and say sorry about the crazy looking pictures. Some of them were terribly over exposed and others had this crazy blue hue that I had to try fixing before posting them. I probably didn't do a very good job thanks to my minimal knowledge of picture editing.. Sorry... )

Memorial Day

My weekend was wonderful. I am glad to be feeling better. On Friday I felt SO sick. I had no idea what was wrong with me! Tunnel vision, dizziness, the shakes, I felt like I was going to freeze even though it was 80 something degrees outside! After trying to deal with it for a while by myself, David came to my rescue and took care of Calvin and I. I am so grateful for David having come home. I had to go to my Instructor Certification all the way in Clearfield the next day so I don't know what I would have done if I wouldn't have had that time to get better. Ah. I have the best husband ever.

That was the other part of my weekend! I will have you know that I am now an OFFICIAL Zumba Instructor. That whole day was such a blast. I tried so hard to keep my energy up all day and hit every move as enthusiastically as Lindsey (the Zumba Education Specialist certifying us that day) was. There was so much to learn and I tried my best to absorb all that Lindsey was teaching. And at the end of the day, I felt like my limbs were going to fall off. I will be doing small substitution jobs for a studio in Springville called Sweaty Chix until their new studio opens in Lindon where I'll be on as a full time Instructor. It's super cheesy to say it this way, but since losing all of my pregnancy weight and becoming so addicted to Zumba, I thought I would love to be an instructor to pass on everything I love about it! I'll keep you all posted on further Zumba details. :)

And finally- Memorial Day was so awesome. I felt like it was the Saturday I kind of missed out on since I was in Clearfield the whole day for Zumba. I read, I cleaned, I even sat out and got a little tan. And later in the afternoon, David, Calvin and I went over to my parent's house for dinner. It was an all out Argentinean Asado. My sister's boyfriend, Scott, who went on a mission to Argentina assisted in the cooking of the meat outside over hot coals! It tasted amazing!! And the weather was so perfect we all ate outside and got to sit on the soft grass. :) And after coming home at about 9:30, Calvin was SO tired after a long day of playing that he fell right to sleep and gave David and I an opportunity to sit out at the hot tub and go for a swim out at the pool. The water was JUST cold enough to cool us off after sitting in the hot tub for a while. I would have to say a PERFECT holiday. I'm just bummed that it's all over! :(

(Click on the pictures to enlarge!!)

Calvin LOVES Dozer (the dog) and tries to call him. Although it comes out sounding more like "Doo!" More than Dozer. We're lucky to have such a patient puppy.

R2 (Arthur Saraiva), a good family friend entertaining Calvin.

My dad telling a really cool story! (He gets really animated)

R2 managed to make it over to the trees.

Scott's yummy Strawberry Cake thing and my mom's BIG Cookie Cake! YUM! :D

It's a miracle! Calvin will actually sit and play on the grass now!!!

Isn't he the cutest??

I hope everyone's holiday was as wonderful as mine was! :)

If You're Happy & You Know It

Sorry the quality of the video is a little grainy. It's from my little Ipod.
This is Calvin clapping because he's so excited. Just recently he's been
clapping to show how excited he is about something or to also show off
for the ladies. :)

Big Bear and Baby Cal.

David and I first realized Calvin's love for stuffed animals when he was only a few months old. But we never thought it was anything more than "ooooh colorful!" or something he'd just eventually put in his mouth and drool all over.
I actually bought Big Bear at Albertsons and thought, "He'll never like this.. he probably won't care for it in another week or so" and it was my sister Andrea who insisted that I buy it. She noticed how much he loved it right away and that he didn't want to let him go. And so for Christmas last year, Calvin got Big Bear and it was love at first sight. I've actually just recently found HOLES in Big Bear because of how much rough housing he's been through with Calvin.
David and I have actually started sticking Big Bear in Calvin's crib so in the morning he wakes up and sees him there. We've actually found him "talking" to Big Bear in the morning when we go into his room to say good morning!
It's so cute and funny. It's like Big Bear is alive to him and he talks to him and hugs him and kisses him. He'll tackle him and lay on him. I LOVE watching him play with Big Bear. So after all this time, I finally took pictures of him with Big Bear. Sorry if the pictures are blurry, Calvin was moving pretty fast when I was trying to capture him with Big Bear.

I adore my little (SHIRTLESS) baby Calvin.

Stupid Computer.

I can't seem to get pictures from the card onto the computer! Ah, I am so frustrated sometimes with how little I know about computers.

So for today, Old pictures will do.

My visiting teachers came over today to visit me and I was enjoying myself having casual conversation with the two of them. And then the question that always gets asked, "How old is Calvin now?" and I replied 10 months. And then it hit me.
I have a 10 month old baby.
TEN MONTHS... like, two months away from being a 12 month old baby!
Where has time gone? Didn't I just bring him home from the hospital like, yesterday?
It certainly feels that way!

I am in awe of how much my Calvin has grown! I mean, he hasn't even met his Indiana family yet (With exception of Grandpa Jim and Grandma JoAnn of course). And this summer when we go to Indiana to visit, will he be walking? What other new tricks will he be learning? I just want to grab him by his shoulders and be like "WHOA whoa whoa, hold on there mister. You are GROUNDED from growing up any more."

He was so little! Not even capable of holding his own little head up!
And now I can't keep him in one spot!
Always moving, always moving, my Calvin.

I could eat him up, I love him so.

He went from this.....

To this...

The Millers need a break.

We've all been going at a million miles and hour it seems in the last week. We had so many things to do. Including working to shoot and arrange flowers for a wedding (David was kind enough to help me strip some roses and wire some gerbs after my friend Courtney had gone home). I taught my very first Zumba class on Thursday. Friday and Saturday were dedicated almost solely to wedding flowers and wedding photography. And Sunday David and I both had to speak in Sacrament Meeting at church! OY! Can't somebody catch a break? Thankfully, Calvin was able to be with my parents this week while we've had our busiest days. He just loves his Tias Andi, Ali and Ami, his Tio Erik, and his Abuelos. :)

Calvin's been standing up, too! This last week Cal's been practicing letting go of things and standing all by himself! He knows he's cool when he does it too because he'll put his hands above his head and smile so big like "Aw yeah! I am the MAN!" Unfortunately, He's too quick for me to run for my camera and catch the magic. Soon enough, soon enough.

But for now, some crappy pictures from Photobooth.

Always A Crowd Pleaser..

I get so "Mom-ish" when I get to playing with my little Calvin. There is something so wonderful about his little personality. David and I always talk about what a blessing he is in our lives and how much light and joy he brings.

I'm afraid Calvin is going to feel a little neglected this weekend. David and I have loads of things we have to do this weekend that require all of our attention. Unfortunately, that means we have to leave Calvin with someone else. Although I know he's in wonderful care, I miss Calvin so much when we leave him with my parents. It must be a parent thing. Like I feel like I have to squeeze him so tight like it's the last time I'll ever see him. Ah. I love that little guy.

Anyway, Calvin's been learning new ways to "cute" his way into getting things he wants. I can see now how he might use his little tricks to manipulate me in the future. I've got to keep a close eye on my little boy.

He's my everything.

Just Two Hang-out Dudes

Corny Corny Corny.

I love watching David play with Baby Cal. I can only imagine the days to come that someway or another will involve wrestling, getting dirty, running fast and scraping knees and elbows. It isn't rare to find David and Calvin playing a new game. Most likely something involving Calvin's favorite toy, Big Bear or maybe going into Calvin's new favorite hiding spot, under the crib (anytime I've lost something and can't find it, I've learned to look under the crib first). That's big bear off to the right by David's legs.

I love my boys.

And it's obvious to me how much they love each other. ♥♥♥

Imitation

It won't be long until Calvin will be begging me for his own cell phone...

This one's my favorite. I LOVE THE CHEEKS!!!
